Inder Paul Sandhu
A multidisciplinary artist and cultural founder working across music, visual art, language, fashion and publishing, Inder Paul Sandhu develops interconnected bodies of work that move between creative disciplines and cultural contexts.
His practice is shaped by an interest in the structures that govern personal experience and collective life, exploring questions of identity, faith, ambition, loss and reconstruction through distinct visual and sonic languages.
From BBC recognition and the NBA 2K soundtrack to an Adidas collaboration with Pharrell Williams, performances alongside Omar Lyefook and work connected to the wardrobes of cultural icons, Sandhu's trajectory has moved across music, fashion and visual culture. In 2022, he founded EXODUS PDCM, an independent fashion house extending his interest in authorship, design and cultural expression.
His work has developed beyond individual releases and commercial contexts into sustained, interdisciplinary projects. Ashes & Architecture, a completed fifteen-composition archive accompanied by a monograph and an expanding body of visual and physical work, marks a significant expression of this development.
Sandhu's practice has developed an increasingly substantial institutional dimension, bringing Ashes & Architecture into dialogue with museums, collections, universities, libraries, publishers and cultural institutions across the UK and internationally.
Through correspondence and critical exchange with curators, scholars, institutional leaders and cultural practitioners, the archive has been considered through questions of artistic authorship, material culture, theology, visual interpretation, preservation and the relationships between creative disciplines. These engagements have opened distinct perspectives on the work, from academic and philosophical interpretation to collection policy, archival practice and international cultural presentation.
This trajectory reflects a broader evolution in Sandhu's practice: from the creation and presentation of completed work towards the contexts in which it may be interpreted, preserved, studied and encountered. With its monograph, physical editions and interconnected visual and sonic material, Ashes & Architecture has been developed with further possibilities for exhibition, acquisition, research, collection and cultural collaboration in view.
The institutional dimension is not separate from the creative practice. It forms part of an ongoing consideration of how authored work can move between disciplines, institutions and audiences, and how its life can extend beyond its original form of presentation.
